NIGERIA: The disappearance of two infants, aged six and four (names withheld) from their patents home has thrown residents of Effurun, Delta State.
Sources said the children, a girl and a boy, were playing within the secured premises of their parents bungalow in the city, when they suddenly went missing at about 6:30 am on Thursday.
“The two children are missing after an unknown person came to their parents compound in Eneberi Layout, Okuisoko to snatch them this morning at about 6;30am,” a notice circulated on the social media platform, WhatsApp, stated.
The message further appealed to people with information about the whereabouts of the children to call a number – 090693233**6.
The incident raised security concerns about the security of children among parents in the secluded part of Effurun, which has been relatively peaceful and secured.
Fortunately for the grief-stricken parents, the kids were later found several kilometers away at White House area of the Uvwie LGA headquarters.
It was gathered that they were left at the shop of an unsuspecting trader.
The circumstances surrounding their disappearance and reappearance raised suspicions that their fate was the handiwork of a mischief-maker who knew the family.
“The wife had been involved in a running battle with one of her in-laws over her failure to deliver a child several years after marriage. But her husband stood by her until God answer their prayers and gave a daughter six years and later a son,” a source close to the family revealed in a telephone chat.
