Nigerian celebrity chef Hilda Baci has officially earned a new Guinness World Record after preparing the largest serving of Nigerian-style jollof rice, weighing an astonishing 8,780 kilogrammes (19,356 lb 9 oz).

The feat, achieved in collaboration with food brand Gino, took place at the Eko Hotel and Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos. It has now been formally recognized by Guinness World Records.

Confirming the record on Monday via X (formerly Twitter), Guinness World Records announced:

“New record: Largest serving of Nigerian-style jollof rice – 8,780 kg (19,356 lb 9 oz) achieved by Hilda Baci and Gino in Victoria Island, Lagos, Nigeria.”

Baci, who gained international recognition with her cook-a-thon in 2023, once again brought global attention to Nigerian cuisine through this latest milestone.

Ahead of the official confirmation, Guinness World Records had shared words of encouragement, reposting a video from the Friday event with the caption: “What’s cookin’? Best of luck to @hildabacicooks who’s attempting a new record for the largest serving of Nigerian-style jollof rice today.”

The record-breaking event drew a massive crowd, including celebrities, food enthusiasts, and supporters who gathered to witness the history-making achievement.

With this recognition, Hilda Baci has further cemented her place as one of Nigeria’s most celebrated chefs and cultural ambassadors.
