The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested a 48-year-old man, Bala Mato, for allegedly sexually assaulting a 15-year-old boy in Burra, Ningi Local Government Area of the state.
The incident was reported on February 25, 2026, by Danalami Umar, a resident of Bakin Kasuwa, Burra.
Police said the victim was allegedly lured into a room by the suspect on February 17 at about 8pm, where the offence was committed.
The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, SP Nafiu Habib, disclosed this in a statement posted on the command’s Facebook page on Sunday.
Habib said the suspect had been arrested while the victim was taken to the General Hospital, Burra, for medical examination.
He said, “On a case of unnatural offence (sodomy), on February 25, 2026, one Danalami Umar, 45, of Bakin Kasuwa, Burra, reported at the Divisional Police Headquarters, Burra, that on February 17 at about 2000hrs, a 15-year-old teenager was deceitfully lured by Bala Mato, 48, who allegedly committed an unnatural offence against him in a room.
“The suspect was arrested and the victim taken to General Hospital Burra for medical examination.”
In a separate incident, police also arrested a 24-year-old security guard with Al-Ansar Security Limited, Kamaluddeen Aliyu, over the alleged rape of two minors aged four and five.
According to the police, the case was reported on February 23 at the ‘B’ Divisional Police Headquarters by the children’s mother, who alleged that the suspect lured the victims into a security room at Tsohon Company, where he allegedly had unlawful carnal knowledge of them on different occasions.
Police said both the victims and the suspect were taken to the police clinic for medical examination, while the Commissioner of Police ordered that the case be transferred to the Sexual and Gender-Based Violence Unit for further investigation.
Meanwhile, the command also arrested a suspect in connection with an alleged fraud and criminal intimidation involving N3 million.
Emmanuel Christopher of Dawaki District, Abuja, told the police that two suspects identified as Aliyu Yahaya, 23, and another man identified as Abdullahi, who is currently at large, allegedly collected the money from him under the pretext of negotiating dollars before threatening him with knives.
The police said the Divisional Police Officer led detectives to the scene and arrested Aliyu Yahaya, while Abdullahi fled. Efforts are ongoing to arrest the fleeing suspect, recover the money and charge those involved to court.
The Commissioner of Police in the state, Sani-Omolori Aliyu, assured residents that the command remains committed to protecting lives and property and warned criminal elements to desist from illegal activities.
