Vice President Kashim Shettima arrived in Woro village, Kaiama Local Government Area of Kwara State, on Saturday to assess the aftermath of a deadly attack that left 75 residents dead. His visit, directed by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, was aimed at offering federal condolences to grieving families.

Shettima was received by Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq and other state officials. The governor had described the victims as local Muslims “massacred for refusing to submit to extremists preaching a strange doctrine,” with early reports suggesting over 100 fatalities. The attack reportedly followed a rejected attempt by militants to forcibly indoctrinate community members.

According to Shettima’s media aide, Stanley Nkwocha, the vice president conveyed President Tinubu’s assurances that the federal government would pursue justice for the victims. President Tinubu had earlier condemned the attacks on Woro and Nuku communities as “cowardly and beastly” and confirmed the deployment of an Army battalion under Operation Savannah Shield to apprehend the perpetrators.

Authorities are also coordinating with state agencies to provide relief to victims and prevent further attacks.
