The Kano State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of 12 senior secondary school students in connection with a deadly assault at Government Secondary School, Bichi, that resulted in the deaths of two students and left two others critically injured.

The incident reportedly occurred late at night around 11:30 p.m. on Monday, July 14, when a group of SS3 students allegedly lured four fellow students into a hostel and violently attacked them.

According to security analyst Zagazola Makama, who disclosed the development in a post on X (formerly Twitter) on Wednesday, the victims have been identified as Hamza Idris (19, SS3B), Umar Yusuf (18, SS2C), Ibrahim Ibrahim (SS2B), and Aliyu M. Nasir (SS2C).

Tragically, Idris and Yusuf were later confirmed dead at Bichi General Hospital, while Ibrahim and Nasir are receiving treatment and remain in critical condition.

The school principal, Yusuf Ado Yakasai, officially reported the attack to the police on Tuesday, July 15, prompting swift action by the authorities.

The arrested suspects include: Suleman Abdullahi, Ahmad Sanusi, Lawan Alasan Tambai, Aliyu Idris, Abubakar Abdulaziz (SS3A), Ibrahim Nura, Hamza Isiyaku (SS3B), Usaini Mamuda, Masaudu Idris, Yasir Murtala (SS3C), and Abubakar Muhammad (SS3D).

The Kano State Police Command has launched a full investigation into the incident. Authorities have assured that all individuals found culpable will be charged and prosecuted by the law.

The motive behind the attack remains unclear as investigations continue.
