The Nigeria Immigration Service has cautioned job seekers against fraudulent recruitment portals falsely claiming to be hiring on behalf of the agency.
In a public advisory shared on its official X page, the service said it had noticed a rise in fake websites and online adverts misleading applicants with bogus recruitment offers.
According to the agency, the only valid recruitment process linked to the service is the one being handled centrally by the Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board (CDCFIB). It stressed that all authentic information and application procedures are published exclusively on the board’s official recruitment portal.
The service warned that any other website, link or advertisement outside that platform should be treated as fake and ignored.
Officials said fraudsters often use such fake portals to obtain personal information from applicants or demand illegal payments under the pretext of processing jobs. The agency emphasised that legitimate government recruitment does not require unofficial fees through third-party sites.
The Immigration Service urged members of the public to stay alert, verify sources before submitting details online, and report suspicious recruitment links or messages to the appropriate authorities.
