An 18-year-old apprentice in Anambra State is reported to have impregnated 10 girls within five months, including his master’s daughter and a salesgirl.
According to reports, the young man was initially placed under a master to learn a trade, but within three months, he allegedly impregnated both the master’s daughter and a salesgirl.
As a result, he was dismissed from his apprenticeship.
This was revealed by the Anambra State Commissioner for Women and Social Welfare, Ify Obinabo, during a live broadcast on social media on Wednesday.
She said, “I want advice from the public because this one is beyond my capacity.
“This boy was sent to learn a trade at the age of 18 and three months of apprenticeship, and he impregnated his master’s daughter and his salesgirl. He was sent packing. Two months after that, he impregnated eight other girls in the village.”
Obinabo, who said the boy’s mother came to her office to report the incident, quoted her as saying: “Anytime I see a girl coming towards our house nowadays, my heart would jump, please, I need help.”
Obinabo expressed her deep concern, saying, “This issue is beyond my capacity to handle, which is why I’m appealing to the public for help in finding a solution. Could there be a spiritual angle to this?”
“I asked him what kind of charm or influence he uses to lure the girls into sleeping with him, but he simply said he tells them he loves them and promises to marry them once he becomes wealthy,” she explained.
Obinabo emphasized the gravity of the situation, noting the boy’s young age and the number of girls now pregnant. “It’s overwhelming, which is why I’m seeking help,” she added.
Although she did not disclose the identities of the boy, his mother, or their community, Obinabo made a public appeal for possible solutions.
