A yet-to-be-identified housewife from Isoko ethnic nationality in Delta State has allegedly killed her husband and his alleged lover, while grievously injuring another woman, in a violent incident at Ighwre-Ovie area of Ughelli North Local Government Area of the state.
The suspect, a mother of two, is currently in custody at the Ughelli Area Command of the Delta State Police following the incident, which occurred after a domestic dispute reportedly linked to allegations of infidelity.
According to sources, the woman attacked her husband with a machete, repeatedly striking his skull shortly after he returned home drunk. He was said to have died instantly from the injuries sustained.
The source disclosed that the woman had long accused her husband of engaging in extramarital affairs and had become increasingly agitated over the issue. “On that fateful day, the husband came home drunk, and the wife welcomed him with multiple machete cuts to his skull,” the source said.
The situation reportedly escalated when a female neighbour attempted to intervene. She was allegedly attacked by the suspect, who slit her jaw with a machete. The injured woman is currently receiving treatment at a hospital.
Not done, the suspect was said to have proceeded to the residence of her husband’s alleged side chick, located within the same area, where she reportedly attacked and killed her using a hammer.
Another woman who heard noise from a nearby house was said to have narrowly escaped being attacked before raising an alarm that attracted residents to the scene, leading to the arrest of the suspect.
Efforts to reach the Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, were unsuccessful as of the time of filing this report. However, a senior security source at the Delta State Police Command confirmed the incident, stating that the suspect is in custody and that the investigation is ongoing.
