In a sign of renewed presence and control, Hamas has reportedly begun a campaign of retribution targeting alleged Israeli agents and collaborators amid the ongoing war in Gaza.

According to intelligence and local reports, the militant group has re-emerged in parts of the enclave, signaling its attempt to reassert dominance after months of Israeli military pressure. The resurgence involves several of its specialized units, including the Shadow Unit, tasked with handling prisoners, and the Arrow Unit, believed to be responsible for identifying and executing alleged collaborators.

“Hamas is returning to the streets and regaining control,” one source said. “They are not only focusing on retrieving captives but also on eliminating those accused of working with Israel.”

Eyewitnesses in Gaza have reported the presence of armed, masked men in military uniforms patrolling neighborhoods — a sight that had largely disappeared since Israeli operations intensified nearly two years ago.

The group’s renewed visibility has been interpreted by observers as a message of defiance, challenging Israeli claims that its long-running campaign had dismantled Hamas’s command structure.

“Hamas is back,” another source said. “Anyone who thought the two-year Israeli war had eliminated the movement is mistaken. Its reappearance gives a clear signal of what may come next.”

The latest developments suggest a potential escalation in internal crackdowns within Gaza, even as the broader conflict with Israel continues to exact a heavy toll on civilians on both sides.
