Unknown gunmen suspected to be kidnappers have killed two farmers in the Odo-Ape community, Kabba-Bunu Local Government Area of Kogi State.

The sad event, which reportedly took place on Friday, January 3, 2025, while the farmers were going about their daily activities on their farms, had thrown the community into confusion over fear of future attacks by the yet-to-be-identified gunmen in the area.

According to sources in Odo-Ape, the two farmers that were killed were identified as Mr Black, a Tiv man, and Sunday Aiyedero.

It was gathered that some youths in Odo-Ape on Saturday morning came out in their numbers to register their grievances on the escalating security crisis in their community, calling on the Government to immediately address the matter.

According to sources, The highway from Odo-Ape to Obajana-Lokoja was blocked by the youths who made sure there was no movement of vehicles on that highway.

“It took the Intervention of the security agencies to clear the road after several hours.

“We are appealing to the Government to offer support and stand with the families of the deceased victims, ensuring that justice is served.“

The people of Odo-Ape and the wider Kabba-Bunu LGA deserve peace and protection. We are calling on all relevant authorities to prioritize the safety of citizens in this region”.

However, efforts to speak with the Police Public Relations Office, Kogi command, Mr. Williams Ovye Aya, proved abortive as he has not replied to the message sent to him via WhatsApp and sms as at the time of filing this report.
