The Janaza (funeral) prayer for Sina Ghami and Abdul Latif “Latz” Ayodele, close friends and key members of former world heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua’s team, will take place on Sunday, January 4, 2026, in London.
The prayer service is scheduled for 10 a.m. at the London Central Mosque, 146 Park Road, London NW8 7RG, following the repatriation of their bodies to the United Kingdom after a fatal road accident in Nigeria.
The two men died on December 29, 2025, in a car crash on the Lagos–Ibadan Expressway at Makun, Ogun State. The Lexus SUV conveying Joshua, Ghami, and Ayodele reportedly rammed into a stationary truck. Ghami and Ayodele were confirmed dead at the scene, while Joshua and the driver sustained minor injuries.
A statement issued on Saturday by Boxing King Media confirmed the funeral arrangements and expressed sympathy with the bereaved families. “Our thoughts and prayers are with their families and loved ones,” the statement said.
Ghami was Joshua’s long-time strength and conditioning coach, while Ayodele served as his personal trainer. Both men were described as integral to the boxer’s career and personal life.
A representative of Boxing King Media said the duo meant far more than professional colleagues to the boxer. “Sina and Latz were more than colleagues — they were family to AJ. Their dedication, passion, and friendship will never be forgotten,” the representative said.
Joshua has since returned to the United Kingdom ahead of the funerals. British media reported that the 36-year-old boxer arrived at London’s Stansted Airport in a private jet on Friday evening after being discharged from a hospital in Nigeria earlier in the week.
Meanwhile, Nigerian police have charged the driver of the vehicle, Adeniyi Mobolaji Kayode, 46, with dangerous driving causing death. He is expected to appear in court on January 20.
Joshua, the 2012 Olympic champion who has family roots in Nigeria, was in the country on holiday following his victory over Jake Paul in Miami on December 19.
