Super Falcons goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie cemented her status as one of Africa’s greatest shot-stoppers after winning the CAF Women’s Goalkeeper of the Year award for the third consecutive time at the 2025 CAF Awards ceremony held on Wednesday in Morocco.
The 24-year-old Brighton keeper, who conceded just three goals in six matches as Nigeria clinched a record 10th WAFCON title, beat Morocco’s Khadija Er-Rmichi and South Africa’s Andile Dlamini to the honour. She thanked CAF, the Nigeria Football Federation, teammates, and coaches for their support, adding another milestone to a year in which she also finished fourth in the women’s category of the Yachine Trophy at the 2025 Ballon d’Or.
Nigeria enjoyed further recognition as the Super Falcons were crowned Women’s National Team of the Year for their dominant run to the WAFCON trophy, seeing off strong competition from Ghana and Morocco.
However, Morocco swept the night across several categories. Achraf Hakimi was named African Men’s Player of the Year after a standout season with Paris Saint-Germain, edging past former winners Mohamed Salah and Victor Osimhen. His compatriot Ghizlane Chebbak won the Women’s Player of the Year award following her top-scorer performance at WAFCON.
Morocco also celebrated victories with Yassine Bounou, who claimed Men’s Goalkeeper of the Year; the Under-20 men’s national team, which bagged the Best Men’s National Team award after winning the World Cup; Othmane Maamma, who secured Best Young Men’s Player; and Doha El Madani, who retained Best Young Women’s Player. Cape Verde’s Bubista won Men’s Coach of the Year for leading the island nation to its historic qualification for the 2026 World Cup.
