Renowned Fuji musician, Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, popularly known as K1 De Ultimate, has issued a heartfelt and unreserved apology following an incident at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport on Tuesday, August 5, 2025.

In an official statement personally signed by the music icon, K1 addressed all parties involved, firmly maintaining that the contents of his flask—contrary to circulating claims—contained only water, not alcohol.

He extended his sincere apologies to the Presidency, the Ministry of Aviation, the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), ValueJet, and the general public.

Below is the full statement: “The incident that occurred at the local wing of the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport on August 5, 2025, involving my humble self and ValueJet Airline, was, to say the least, unfortunate.

“What many may not know is that I suffer from chronic dehydration, and on my doctor’s advice, I make it a point to stay constantly hydrated. For this reason, I always carry a flask of water with me. I must emphasize that the flask I had with me that day contained only water—not alcohol, as has been wrongly alleged.

“To set the record straight: I passed through two security screenings with an empty flask, which I only filled with water while waiting in the lounge, shortly before heading to the tarmac. This can be corroborated by CCTV footage from the lounge area. Furthermore, I had not boarded the aircraft, so the claim that I was deboarded is simply untrue.

“Nonetheless, I recognize and deeply regret any concerns or misunderstandings that the incident may have caused. It was never my intention to disrupt airport operations or breach aviation regulations.

“My patriotism and unwavering loyalty to the Federal Republic of Nigeria are well documented. For decades, I have proudly represented our culture and heritage through music on the global stage. I would never do anything to tarnish the legacy I’ve built or compromise the image of the country I hold dear.

“That said, I take full responsibility for the incident and deeply regret the entire episode. I remain committed to upholding the values expected of me as an ambassador of Nigerian music and culture.

“To the Presidency, the Ministry of Aviation, FAAN, NCAA, ValueJet, fellow Nigerians, and my global fans who have expressed concern and support—I offer my deepest and most sincere apologies.”
