The Federal Government, through the Ministry of Education, has honoured 17-year-old Nafisa Abdullah Aminu for emerging as the World’s Best in English Language Skills at the 2025 TeenEagle Global Finals held in London.

At a recognition ceremony in Abuja, the Minister of Education, Dr. Tunji Alausa, presented Nafisa with a cheque of N200,000, celebrating her outstanding global achievement.

The event drew distinguished guests, including the Minister of State for Education, Prof. Suiwaba Ahmed; Yobe State Commissioner for Basic Education, Prof. Abba Adam; senior officials of the Federal Ministry of Education; and representatives from the Yobe State Ministry of Education.

Also in attendance were five other Nigerian winners from various categories of the international competition.

Commending Nafisa, Dr. Alausa described her accomplishment as a powerful testament to the brilliance and resilience of Nigerian students. He emphasized that such international recognition reinforces the importance of continued investment in education and the creation of platforms for young talents to thrive.

“The Federal Government remains committed to promoting academic excellence through scholarships, mentorship programmes, and expanded access to quality education,” Alausa stated.

“Nafisa’s success should serve as a source of inspiration for other students to pursue excellence with discipline and determination.”

Speaking on behalf of Yobe State, Prof. Abba Adam praised Nafisa and her fellow competitors as “Amazons” and symbols of determination. He noted that their achievements represent both individual excellence and the collective progress of a state striving to rebuild its education sector after years of insurgency.

“Today, we celebrate a victory—of resilience, of education, and of leadership,” he said. “It is a victory for a governor who believes in the transformative power of education as the foundation for the state’s future.”

Prof. Adam also highlighted recent educational milestones in Yobe, including the graduation of 171 state-sponsored medical students from universities in India, now contributing to healthcare across the state. He added that key institutions such as the state’s colleges of education, agriculture, and business studies have been upgraded to enhance teaching, research, and skills development.

In her remarks, Nafisa expressed heartfelt gratitude to her parents, teachers, and the Nigerian government for their unwavering support. She pledged to use her platform to inspire other students and urged Nigerian youths to embrace hard work, perseverance, and self-belief.

She also unveiled her initiative, English Language for Peace and Development—a project aimed at promoting literacy, dialogue, and social cohesion among young people across communities.
