Cameroonian football legend Geremi Njitap has been suspended from all football-related activities for five years and fined 10 million CFA francs by the Cameroon Football Federation (FECAFOOT).
According to FECAFOOT’s official statement, the disciplinary action stems from an incident that occurred in Bouaké, Ivory Coast, on the day of the Cameroon vs. Gambia match. During the event, Geremi reportedly had a confrontation with FECAFOOT officials while attempting to enter the Indomitable Lions’ dressing room to celebrate with the team.
The FECAFOOT Ethics Commission also imposed sanctions on Ngos Daniel, Secretary General of the Cameroon Footballers’ Syndicate (SYNAFOC). He received a two-year ban from football activities and a 5 million CFA francs fine.
Both individuals were found guilty of breaching the FECAFOOT Code of Ethics.
They have 10 days to request a written justification of the decision. If no appeal is made within that timeframe, the sanctions will become final.
