Renowned Nigerian fashion designer Ruth Erikan James, popularly known as Veekee James, has announced that she and her husband, Femi Atere, are expecting their first child together.
The designer shared the news on Instagram, posting a short video that showed her and her husband at a brown-pastel themed venue, both dressed in coordinated tan outfits. The clips highlighted Veekee’s growing baby bump and ultrasound images, confirming the pregnancy. She captioned the post, “And two shall become 3. Indeed, this is what only GOD can do.”
Veekee James is one of Nigeria’s most celebrated fashion designers, widely known for her luxury bridal and couture creations. She launched her fashion brand in 2019 and quickly gained recognition for her sculptural, form-fitting wedding dresses and red-carpet gowns worn by high-profile clients across Africa. Her designs have become fixtures at weddings and major awards ceremonies, earning her several industry accolades, including the AMVCA Best Designer of the Year award in 2021.
Born on June 9, 1994, in Akwa Ibom State and raised in Lagos, Veekee’s passion for fashion was inspired by her mother’s tailoring work. Over the years, she has expanded her brand to include menswear and ready-to-wear lines, establishing herself as a leading voice in Nigeria’s fashion industry. Beyond fashion, she is also involved in various entrepreneurial and creative initiatives, including gospel-focused events.
Veekee and Atere got married in a widely celebrated ceremony in February 2024, following their engagement in December 2023. Since their wedding, the couple has regularly shared glimpses of their life on social media.
In late 2025, Veekee sparked pregnancy speculation after fans noticed changes in her appearance in photos and videos, though the couple did not address the rumours at the time.
