Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) carried out a raid at the headquarters of the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) in Abuja on Tuesday, following allegations of fraud and fund misappropriation.

The raid occurred at 11 a.m., leading to the detention of NAHCON’s spokesperson, Fatimah Usara, and three other unidentified staff members. The operatives presented a valid warrant of arrest, signaling the seriousness of the matter.

This operation forms part of an ongoing investigation into the alleged mismanagement of a N90 billion intervention fund meant for the 2024 Hajj.

A source at the EFCC headquarters disclosed these developments to underscore the severity of the allegations against NAHCON.

The EFCC’s actions follow a prior raid by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) at the same commission, intensifying the scrutiny of NAHCON’s financial practices.

When contacted for comment, EFCC spokesperson Dele Oyewale refrained from offering an immediate response but indicated that further details regarding the arrests and the investigation would be provided in due time.
