The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has apprehended 66 individuals suspected of engaging in internet fraud in coordinated sting operations across Lagos and Ogun States.
EFCC spokesperson, Dele Oyewale, confirmed the arrests in a statement issued Friday in Abuja.
According to Oyewale, 55 suspects were arrested on Wednesday at K Hotel in Itori, Ewekoro area of Ogun State, while 11 others were picked up on Thursday at Tulip Haven, Chevron area of Lekki, Lagos.
The arrests followed credible intelligence linking the individuals to various forms of online fraud.
In Ogun, items recovered included six luxury cars, two locally made pistols, a motorcycle, several mobile phones and laptops, 89 unclaimed phones, incriminating documents, and other electronic devices.
From the Lagos operation, the commission recovered one Range Rover, three Mercedes-Benz cars, two Lexus vehicles, a Toyota, 15 iPhones, two Android phones, a Nokia torch phone, and a MacBook.
Oyewale added that all suspects have provided useful statements and will be charged in court soon.
