The Benin Zonal Directorate of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has announced the arrest of 21 suspected cyber criminals in Benin City, the Edo State capital.
The EFCC, in a post on its verified Facebook account, said the suspected were arrested on Thursday, 5 November, based on actionable intelligence on their alleged involvement in internet-related fraud.”
“Items recovered from them include 10 exotic cars, laptops and phones The suspects will be charged to court as soon as investigations are concluded,” the statement added.
In Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory, the commission said two men were arrested on suspicion of money laundering and internet-related crimes.
“The suspects, Joshua Ndu and Michael Uchenna were arrested at Al-Gamji Estate in Guzape axis of the FCT, following intelligence linking them to the criminal activities,” the statement added.
“Items recovered from Ndu are: Mercedes Benz E350 2019 model, Range Rover 2016 model, an Apple laptop, iPhone 15 Pro Max, a Cartier wristwatch, and two necklaces, while items recovered from Uchenna are, iPhone 12 Pro Max and one Apple Macbook pro laptop.
“The suspects will be charged to court as soon as investigations in the matter are concluded”, the statement added.
