The Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Edo State, Gbenga Agun, has died after collapsing at a public function in Benin City on Thursday.
Agun was attending an event organised by the International Association of World Peace Advocates, where he delivered a keynote address before reportedly slumping.
He was immediately rushed to the Military Hospital on Airport Road in Benin City for urgent medical attention but was pronounced dead on arrival.
As of the time of filing this report, both the Edo State Command and the NSCDC national headquarters have yet to issue an official statement on the incident.
