The Department of State Services (DSS) has dismissed 115 of its personnel as part of ongoing internal reforms, warning Nigerians to be cautious of individuals parading themselves as serving officers of the agency.

In a post shared on X (formerly Twitter) on Tuesday, the secret police said the disciplinary action was taken over time in line with efforts to sanitize the Service.

“As part of the ongoing reforms in the Department of State Services (DSS), the public is hereby informed that a total of 115 personnel have been dismissed over a period,” the agency stated.

The DSS further cautioned the public against having any official dealings with the affected individuals, noting that some of them continue to impersonate DSS operatives to defraud unsuspecting citizens.

“Members of the public are advised to desist from any official dealings with these individuals who have been dismissed by the Service,” the statement read.

According to the agency, the names of all dismissed personnel have been published on its official website — www.dss.gov.ng — for public verification.

“For the sake of clarity, the identities of the dismissed personnel have been published on the website of the Service,” it added, while also providing contact channels for enquiries and complaints.

The DSS also recalled previous public notices disowning two dismissed staff members, Barry Donald and Victor Onyedikachi Godwin, who were arrested for allegedly engaging in fraudulent activities while posing as serving operatives.

The agency reaffirmed its commitment to professional conduct and transparency, assuring the public that internal reforms will continue to strengthen accountability within the Service.
