Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has officially left the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and joined the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The announcement was made on Wednesday following a closed-door meeting at the Government House in Asaba.
According to the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Sir Festus Ahon, the decision was made after extensive consultations with political stakeholders and is aimed at advancing the long-term development goals of the state.
Governor Oborevwori, who was elected under the PDP banner in 2023, was formally welcomed into the APC by top party leaders.
The defection is being seen by political analysts as a significant shift that could reshape Delta State’s political dynamics ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Although the Governor has not yet issued a personal statement on the move, insiders suggest more information on the motivations behind the switch will be revealed in the coming days.
