The renewed paternity controversy involving Afrobeats star David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, and a teenage girl identified as Anu has once again drawn national attention following a recent social media appeal by the girl requesting the singer to undergo another DNA test.

The latest development comes days after Davido publicly rejected the fresh request, insisting that he had already submitted to five DNA tests over the years, all of which returned negative results.

According to the singer, three of the tests were initiated by him, while two were conducted at facilities selected by the other party, with all confirming that he is not the biological father of the child.

Amid the renewed debate, Davido’s father, Dr. Adedeji Adeleke, has provided a detailed account of how the matter began and how it has been handled for more than a decade.

Speaking to journalists at his Lagos residence on Wednesday, the business mogul said the issue first surfaced in 2014 when he received a formal letter alleging that Davido had impregnated a woman and abandoned the child. He said he immediately intervened as the head of the family and ordered a DNA test without prejudice.

Dr. Adeleke explained that samples were taken from Davido, his cousin Bayo Adeleke, popularly known as B-Red, and the child at a reputable hospital, while the analysis was conducted abroad to ensure credibility.

He said the results of the first test showed a 0.00 per cent probability of paternity. Despite the outcome, he noted that the family did not dismiss the matter and offered to conduct further confirmatory tests at his own expense, including providing accommodation and logistics for the child’s family in Lagos. However, the follow-up tests were not completed after the initial findings.

Over the years, the issue resurfaced intermittently on social media, often accompanied by renewed allegations and emotional appeals. Dr. Adeleke said the situation escalated again recently when Anu made a public online plea, prompting Davido’s response that reignited the controversy.

Addressing the latest claims, Dr. Adeleke disclosed that the child’s aunt, who resides in Abuja, contacted him to clarify that neither she nor the child’s mother was responsible for the circulating social media posts. He said the aunt alleged that the accounts promoting the claims were impersonated and that the family had cut ties with those behind them.

He further stated that he has documented message exchanges with the aunt to support this claim and alleged that controversial commentator Kemi Olunloyo was responsible for impersonating the social media pages used to circulate the renewed allegations.

Dr. Adeleke added that he has documentary evidence of all DNA tests conducted over the years, including those referenced by Davido, all of which reportedly confirm a 0.00 per cent probability of paternity.

He stressed that the family’s approach had been guided by responsibility, transparency, and reliance on verifiable scientific evidence, adding that if any test had proven Davido to be the father, the child would have been accepted without hesitation.

Dr. Adeleke warned that the continued spread of what he described as false claims, impersonation, and misinformation could attract legal action, as the family seeks final closure on an issue he said has already been conclusively settled by science.
