Dangote Sugar Refinery Plc has issued a final warning to its employees at the Numan operations, prohibiting the chewing of company-owned sugarcane within factory premises and cautioning that violators will face strict disciplinary measures.
In a circular dated April 7, 2026, and signed by the Head of Human Resources, Ikechukwu Okorie, the company described the act as gross misconduct that could attract summary disciplinary action.
The management emphasized that sugarcane is a valuable company asset and warned that its unauthorized consumption amounts to a loss for the organisation. It also noted that the indiscriminate disposal of chewed cane residue is negatively affecting the factory environment and undermining housekeeping standards.
According to the circular, the Numan facility operates as a food production environment where strict hygiene and cleanliness must be maintained at all times. As such, littering of sugarcane chaff is strictly prohibited.
The company further disclosed that its security team has been placed on high alert and directed to apprehend any staff found violating the directive. Offenders, it said, would be subjected to disciplinary procedures and may face prosecution aimed at recovering the value of the misused product.
Management urged all employees to comply with the directive, describing it as a final warning.
