The sleepy town of Amukpe in Sapele Local Government Area of Delta State was thrown into confusion on Thursday after a middle-aged woman slashed her son’s throat in the early hours of the morning.
The circumstances surrounding the incident were yet unclear, but report from the area indicated that the incident occurred at Old Road, Amukpe.
The 17-month-old child was already dead when the mother was caught, according to information sourced from a popular Sapele Facebook news page, Real Sapele Amebo.
It was learnt that the child’s neck was only held by a thin thread of skin when the woman was caught.
The mental state of the alleged perpetrator was unconfirmed, but various sources believed that she was either mentally unstable or planning to use the child for money rituals.
