Gunmen suspected to be bandits have abducted a photojournalist, Umar Iyale, at Danhonu II community in Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
Iyale, who is reportedly battling an undisclosed ailment, was kidnapped from his residence at about 9 p.m. on Monday.
Confirming the incident, the spokesperson of the Kaduna State Police Command, DSP Mansir Hassan, said security operatives have launched an operation to track down the perpetrators and secure the victim’s release.
He appealed to residents of Danhonu and neighbouring Millennium City to support security agencies with credible information that could assist ongoing rescue efforts.
The abduction has raised concern among residents, coming nearly two years after Kaduna State recorded relative peace following sustained collaboration between the state government and security agencies to improve safety across many communities.
