The Defence Headquarters (DHQ) has confirmed that Brigadier General MA Sadiq, Commander of the 3 Brigade in Kano, will face a military court martial following allegations of administrative fraud.

Sadiq was suspended from his position after being accused of diverting palliatives meant for soldiers and engaging in other misconduct.

This update was provided by Major General Edward Buba, Director of Defence Media Operations, during a briefing at the DHQ in Abuja on Thursday, October 10.

Addressing concerns about the welfare of military personnel, Major General Buba emphasized that the military’s leadership, from the Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, to the service chiefs, prioritizes the well-being of troops.

“All of them have operational experience. They’ve been to the battlefield, and they understand the needs of the troops. The military high command does not take welfare lightly,” he stated.

In response to questions regarding Sadiq’s alleged misconduct, Major General Buba acknowledged the situation but refrained from discussing details. “I know where you’re headed with this question,” he said.

“It’s about the Brigadier General who was relieved of his command due to issues related to welfare and other misdeeds. However, I cannot delve into specifics because the case is going before a military court martial. As the saying goes, one is innocent until proven guilty.”

This court martial will serve as the official forum to determine Brigadier General Sadiq’s guilt or innocence regarding the charges brought against him.
