The Anambra State Police Command has rescued a six-year-old boy who was allegedly abducted and found with a suspected foster parent in Ondo State. The operation was part of an intelligence-driven investigation into a case of child theft and trafficking, initially reported at Okpoko Police Station and later transferred to the State CID Gender Unit.
Police spokesperson SP Tochukwu Ikenga, in a statement on Monday, confirmed that the child has been safely reunited with his biological mother. All suspects connected to the case have been charged at the Children, Sexual, and Gender-Based Violence Court.
In a separate case, police arrested 18-year-old Uchenna Nweke in the Ebenebe community, Awka North LGA, for allegedly defiling an 11-year-old girl.
Investigations revealed that the suspect unlawfully entered a bathroom where the victim was bathing and sexually assaulted her. A medical report confirmed the abuse, and the suspect is scheduled to appear in court on August 20, 2025.
Commissioner of Police, CP Ikioye Orutugu, reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to protecting vulnerable groups and ensuring offenders face justice.
