Operations at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport (NAIA), Abuja, were temporarily halted on Thursday following an incident involving a private jet on the runway.

The aircraft, a Gulfstream 400 with registration number 5N-PZE, reportedly suffered a nosewheel collapse while landing at about 2 p.m.

According to an airport source, the jet, which departed from Enugu Airport, was carrying 10 passengers and four crew members at the time of the incident. Fortunately, no casualties were recorded.

“Yes, I can confirm an aircraft incident on the runway of Abuja Airport today,” the source said. “The aircraft was coming from Enugu but had a nosewheel issue on landing. There were 14 people onboard, including four crewmembers. Everyone is safe, and the airport was only closed briefly.”

The damaged aircraft has since been evacuated from the runway, and normal operations were restored shortly after.

Efforts to reach the Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), Mr. Henry Agbebire, for comments were unsuccessful as he did not respond to inquiries at press time.
