The Nigeria Police Force has issued a detailed nine-step procedure to help motorists apply for a tinted glass permit through its official online platform.
To begin, applicants must visit the Police Specialized Services Automation Project (POSSAP) website at www.possap.gov.ng and register using their National Identification Number (NIN), Bank Verification Number (BVN), or Tax Identification Number (TIN).
After completing the registration form with accurate personal details, users need to create an account and verify it via a code sent to their email address.
Once the account is verified, they can log in with their email and password to start the application process.
Next, applicants should select the “Tinted Glass Permit” option, provide their vehicle details, and upload the required documents.
After confirming that all submitted information is correct, they must proceed to make the necessary payment.
The final steps involve booking an appointment for a physical vehicle inspection and biometric capture at a designated Nigeria Police Intelligence Department office.
This digitized system is part of the police’s broader efforts to improve transparency, efficiency, and ease of access to its services.
The issuance of tinted glass permits has resumed nationwide following a directive from the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun. The announcement was made in a statement by the Force Public Relations Officer, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, in response to growing public concerns over the harassment of motorists with factory-fitted tinted windows by security personnel.
