Fresh from his inauguration for a second term, Anambra State Governor, Chukwuma Soludo, has pledged to work for the re-election of President Bola Tinubu in 2027, declaring that he is unapologetic about his decision.

Soludo made the declaration on Thursday night during a television interview in Awka, where he described the President as a friend and great ally.

“I’m unapologetic about it. Tinubu is my friend and I want him to win his second term,” the governor said.

The governor stated that his party, the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), would not field a presidential candidate in the 2027 general election. According to him, the decision aligns with the party’s stance in 2023 when it did not present a candidate and instead supported the candidate of the All Progressives Congress.

While noting that it would be a great honour for a South-Easterner to emerge as Nigeria’s President, Soludo maintained that Tinubu should be allowed to complete a second term in office.

He urged other presidential aspirants to reconsider their ambitions, stressing that his position should not be interpreted as anti-party activity but as a strategic collaboration aimed at promoting governance and development.

The former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria also highlighted what he described as a massive and productive working relationship between his administration and the Federal Government.

Soludo added that APGA’s primary focus remains strengthening its influence at the state and regional levels while supporting a presidential candidate it believes can effectively deliver at the national level.
