The Rivers State Government has informed the State House of Assembly of its inability to honour Monday’s ultimatum for the presentation of the 2025 budget to Rt Hon Martins Amaehule-led House.

The Secretary to the State Government, Dr Tammy Danagogo, in a letter to the assembly said the government was yet to be furnished with the summons containing the ultimatum.

Besides, the SSG revealed that the government’s legal team were yet to get the Supreme Court judgment and was therefore unable to digest it to provide a framework for their response and action.

The government said: “As at the close of work on Tuesday, 4th March, 2025, we are yet to receive the said letter. Neither the office of the governor nor the deputy governor’s office, nor the office of the Accountant-General of the state has received the said letter”.

Danagogo reminded the lawmakers of Governor Fubara’s decision to abide by the ruling of the apex court, in the interest of the people of the state.

The letter added: “We have since been in contact with our lawyers, who are still awaiting the certified true copy of the judgement of the Supreme Court and hereby reassure you and all the good people of Rivers State that as soon as his Excellency receives the judgement, he will strive to implement same in the best interest of our people”.
