The Kano State Police Command has arrested an 18-year-old woman, Saudat Jibril, on suspicion of murdering her husband, Salisu Idris.
According to reports, Saudat allegedly slit her husband’s throat with a sharp knife in the early hours of Tuesday at their residence in Farawa Quarters, Kano.
A statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, Abdullahi Kiyawa, confirmed the incident occurred around 12:35 a.m. The victim, 30-year-old Salisu Idris, was rushed to Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Following the incident, Commissioner of Police Ibrahim Bakori dispatched detectives to the scene. The suspect was taken into custody and is currently being held at the State Criminal Investigation Department, Homicide Section. She is expected to face charges of culpable homicide.
Commissioner Bakori emphasized the command’s commitment to justice, stating that criminal acts will not be tolerated and a thorough investigation is underway.
